This Means Everything Everything - Part II

Rarely do i come across an album that i am both immediately attracted to as well as unsure of simultaneously. An example of that is Everything Everything's "Get to Heaven." Immediately, two songs grabbed me: "Regret" and "Distant Past." There's a fusion of experimental pop, art rock, alt, electronic, and 80s sounds. There's distinctive percussion. And there's surreal videography. This combination has made this album my favorite/favourite of 2015. Speaking of the unsure, it took me several listens to grow to love some of the other songs, and i really appreciate it when an album grows on me over time. That said, it is rare that i would rate the first five songs on any album as five-star songs, but "To the Blade," "Distant Past," "Get to Heaven," "Regret," and "Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread" all make the grade. "No Reptiles" is also growing on me with each subsequent listen. There's an earworm quality to most, if not all, of these songs as well. It's a shame, in my humble opinion, that American audiences are unaware of this great U.K. band, as they really are great.
