Closing...

So I closed on my house sale today at 2:00 p.m. in Crookston, MN. I had driven up on Tuesday to check my renter out of the house and do a little fence repair. Wednesday was a busy day of cleaning and finalizing things. It was also a nice bonus to get together with good friends on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

On to Thursday. It was a little odd walking through the house as it stood totally empty with the thought that this time when I leave it's for good. IT was my first house and I had lived in it for four years. I really felt at home in that house, and it hosted many friends and loved ones over those four years. The guests during that time were the truest of friends. I have many fond memories of things that happened in that house, especially in the basement rec room. Sigh.

Oh well, I guess this spring is the time for closure on many things. The Crookston chapter of my life is now officially over. While I still have friends to visit there, I don't own anything there anymore. Only fond memories.

Ob la di, ob la da life goes on...

Appropriate R.E.M.

The One I Love by R.E.M.

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I've left behind
A simple prop to occupy my time
This one goes out to the one I love

Fire (she's comin' down on her own, now)
Fire (she's comin' down on her own)

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I've left behind
Another prop has occupied my time
This one goes out to the one I love

Okay, I don't really believe that--well, maybe in only some ways...I hope we aren't all just props for each other...

You put the art

Those who profess to know...

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America, I point the finger in their face and say: you helped this happen."

--Rev. Jerry Fallwell, noted evangelist on God's retribution on 9/11

GOD TELLS ME TO
by the Ass Ponys - from the album The Known Universe

I’m gonna walk around the yard
Until I find a hill of ants
Take a magnifying glass
Heat ‘em up and watch ‘em dance

And I only hurt because I think of you
And I only kill because God tells me to

I drove by your house today
But I didn’t dare to stop
And I felt just like an ant
As I rode around the block
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires."
--Susan B. Anthony, reformer and suffragist (1820-1906)

"God send us down an unbeliever who will deliver us from the madness of the morally certain."
--John Gorka from "On the Road"
