David Bowie was certainly innovative and influential--not just in the world of music, but also in video, science fiction, fashion, and general style. I have much of his catalog in my music collection. I loved that he was always changing, experimenting, pushing boundaries. His new album "Blackstar" reflects that for sure. He never wanted to repeat himself. He was a true artist. We are lessened by his departure from this plane of existence.
Here are my eleven favorite songs (because i couldn't limit it to just ten):
1) Heroes
2) Space Oddity
3) Cat People (Putting Out Fire)
4) Under Pressure (with Queen)
5) Ashes to Ashes
6) Jump They Say
7) I'm Afraid of Americans
8) Let's Dance
9) Changes
10) Loving the Alien
11) Fame
In my opinion, one of his most striking and surreal music videos has to be "Jump They Say" from his 1993 release Black Tie White Noise...
Andrew M. Svec's Planet X isn't x-rated or anything...just a compilation of thoughts and opinions on life and stuff. Warning: Reading may induce drowsiness or insomnia. Your results may vary. The writing in this blog is not guaranteed to be coherent or even readable. Typos are distinctly possible.
